What is the Union Banquet?

The union banquet (Kårbanketten, "ketten") is a fancier dinner that the union engaged people get invited to, as a thank you for their involvement. The dinner is held at the end of every union year.

The Student Union Banquet 2026 takes place on May 2nd at STUK Bar & Restaurant, campus Porsön in Luleå.

Those who have volunteered throughout the year in the service of Teknologkåren will receive an invite to the banquet via email. To secure your spot, go to the Event “Kårbanketten 2026” in the Hitract app and unlock the ticket with the code in the email. Please note that your invite is personal and can not be given away to someone else. A three-course dinner and aperitif is included with your ticket. If you desire wine with your food, a wine package can be purchased in Hitract. Drinks will also be available for purchase at the bar during the evening.

When does The Student Union Banquet 2026 take place?

The banquet will take place on Saturday, May 2nd. Doors will open at 18:00 and close at 18:45.

Where will the banquet be held?

The Banquet will be held at STUK Bar & Restaurant in the C-building at campus Porsön, Luleå.

Who is invited to the banquet?

The purpose of the Student Union Banquet is to thank and acknowledge those who have given their time and energy for the benefit of Teknologkåren and its members. Invites are sent first to those who hold a central office or position in Teknologkåren, second to those who have participated in improving their courses and programmes and, finally, any remaining tickets are made available to other volunteers within the union divisions and union associations. Luleå University of Technology’s vice-chancellor and university director are also invited, as well as Teknologkåren’s honorary members.

What is the dress code for the evening?

The dress code for the Student Union Banquet is “Högtidsdräkt m.a.a.o.”, i.e. formal attire/white tie with all academic decorations.

Formal attire/white tie means a white tie suit/tailcoat suit, a ball gown or a folk costume. You may wear couleur, i.e. medals, ribbons and other academic decorations. A guide to academic decorations can be found in Ultima Thule, page 25 in the 2025 edition.

All students are urged to wear their student union cap.

I do not own a white tie suit, may I wear a dark suit instead?

Yes, a dark suit/business suit with accompanying bow tie (not white or black) is allowed if you do not own formal attire. For guests wearing a dress or skirt, a nicer dress or skirt that runs to or below the knee is allowed. Guests wearing light or colored suits, as well as guests wearing objectionable or inappropriate clothing, will not be admitted to the banquet.

Will there be a songbook at the banquet?

No, so remember to bring your Ultima Thule songbook! The latest edition (2025) is available for purchase in the store at the administrative office in Studenternas hus, Luleå (open hours can be found here).

I won’t be able to attend, may I give away my place to a friend?

No, your invite is personal and may not be given away.

May I bring a date/+1?

No, only invitees may attend the banquet.

May I perform a jest/gyckel during the banquet?

Absolutely! Gyckel are, however, be pre-arranged by sending an email to lg@teknologkaren.se. Remember to prepare at least one restart (omstart) so that you are ready in case you are restarted.
