The 2021 supervisor reflects many of the ideals we want to see in supervisors at LTU. Her approach to education places the individual at the center, and she always strives for a healthy balance between work and personal life for all her doctoral students. She consistently makes time for them and is always easy to reach.
This year's supervisor works supportively for the students' health and well-being; she encourages bold progress without demanding too much. Experimentation—and any potential failures—are a natural part of her teaching approach, and she always ensures that the student gets back on track.
Beyond her direct responsibilities as a supervisor, she is also actively involved in research schools and courses. With great enthusiasm, she supports the development of mentoring environments and mentors at LTU. This kind of strategic thinking and drive to improve the overall quality of doctoral education at the university is something that the Technological Student Union and the Doctoral Section highly value. It is with all these qualities that the jury presents Åsa Wikberg-Nilsson with the title of Supervisor of the Year 2021."
